Andrew began his compositional studies at Mars Hill College under Dr. Brian Tinkel.  From there he continued to study Arranging and Composition at The University of Massachusetts Amherst under Thom Hannum, Michael Klesch, and Colin McNutt.

Barlow has been arranging for percussion ensembles and marching bands since 2005, and has worked with many Scholastic and WGI Ensembles.   He has designed and consulted for Scholastic Percussion Ensembles all across the United States.

At West Springfield and Dutchtown, he is the program and show designer for their Indoor and Outdoor ensembles.  Both Groups compete in their local and WGI circuit.  Within 3 years he was able to bring both groups from a non competitive stand point to placing in finals for both of their local and WGI circuits.  Barlow’s responsibilities at Timber Creek and United Percussion were for staging and visual body design of their shows in 2010.
